What Do We Think?

This Mastery-equipped mahogany body thinline makes a bold statement both visibly and audibly. It has an inherent warmth in the low midrange and lots of punch all around. With a Fralin Steel Pole P90 (aka J90) in the bridge position and traditional Jazzmaster wind in the neck position, you have plenty of tones and power on tap. Yet it weighs only 7lb 4.5oz to assure it will be extremely comfortable on the shoulder no matter how long you play. And wired with a 5-way switch, you have some real secret sauce under the hood:

Position 1 - Bridge: Full-bodied with a tastefully-tapered high end, and low mids that add plenty of depth to lead lines and meaty chords.

Position 2 – Bridge & Neck in Parallel: Your traditional “middle” position. Here you’ll find a more open midrange and a shimmery high end.

Position 3 - Neck: Present pick attack with the perfect amount of low end punch. Thick, and growly when you want it.

Position 4 - Neck w/ roll-off cap: “Woman tone” with a rolled off high end. This is a really nice effect for some of your overdriven lead tones.

Position 5: Bridge & Neck in Series: Need an extra boost on solos? This position can essentially be described as an ultra-wide humbucker with the tones to match.

How Does It Play?

This guitar features a moderately-thin C profile neck that fits effortlessly in the hand. The string action at the 12^th fret on the low E string measures just 4/64”, and the action on the high E is even lower. The satin finish provides a very smooth feel that will stay nice and dry, without any stickiness as the night goes on.
