The Lynx offers a lightweight alder or swamp ash body, hand-sanded and contoured to feel right at home. Set in the body is a rock-solid Gotoh Fulcrum Bridge with a steel block to provide fat tones with no tuning issues and a great-feeling tremolo response. Its fast-playing neck profile is still meaty enough to keep the guitar alive, and the Lynx offers a variety of pickup configurations, from SSS to HSS and HSH.

What Do We Think?

This guitar features a Lollar Blonde in neck & middle, paired with a Lollar Special S in the bridge for that little bit extra you often find yourself wanting from the bridge position on a Strat. The second tone knob is wired to the bridge position to give you the ability to tailor the top end to perfection, rolling back the trebles for smooth leads or fatter, swampier rhythm parts.

Meanwhile the Blondes in neck and middle are gorgeously lush on bottom, with a nice scoop in the midrange and spank on top. Every position is distinct and it’s hard to take your pick of a favorite. Good thing you don’t have to!

The Shoreline Gold finish has a nice shade of champagne, and wonderful finish checking and distressing. The neck sports some really impressive flame, even while being designated “standard” by the folks at Shabat. Anybody else would probably say it’s AAA. Top that with a black ebony fretboard and you’ve got quite a looker!

How Does It Play?

The string action measures just a hair over 4/64” on the low E at the 12th fret, and right at 4/64” on the high E. The trem is set to float, but we can set it up any way you like! There is no fretbuzz and the fret dressing is immaculate. The profile is a medium C and sits right where you expect, between slim and chunky for a familiar feel that most players find exceptionally easy to get along with.
