What Do We Think?

This is a guitar with a vintage feel for the modern player. It rings big and loud with a classic alder body and chunky Soft V neck. The bottom end is full and generous. Yet there is a fantastic sense of immediacy and note clarity thanks to the ebony fretboard and stainless frets. Even the neck humbucker remains tight and true.

Both pickups feature a coil split, controlled independently by push/pull pots on the volume and tone pots. Splitting one pickup while leaving the other humbucking in the middle position delivers a combination of spank and warmth with a touch of natural compression. And when soloing just one pickup split, the bridge in particular delivers a wonderful bit and snap.

The Cosmic Amethyst colorshift finish goes from violet to vibrant purple to almost burgundy under the light. It’s a tricky beast to capture in photos, but quite sumptuous in person. The ebony fretboard is jet black. The roasted neck sports some nice flame without completely stealing the show.

How Does It Play?

The string action is fast and low, measuring just 4/64” on the low E string at the 12^th fret and even lower on the high E. All without a hint of fretbuzz. The neck is nice and chunky, with a barely-noticable V that removes some material at the lower frets for easy chording and transforms into a round C as you progress up the neck.
