This mesmerizing Purple Sparkle Burst is one of the most unique new finishes we've seen in a while, and makes an already-killer design by Dennis Fano even cooler. This Idris HSS features a tempered Pine body with a set of Lindy Fralin Vintage Hot pickups and Mannmade trem.

The bridge sounds on this guitar are clear and punchy, with just the right amount of brilliance in the upper register. There is a pleasant sparkle without becoming harsh. It has everything you'd want out of a strat pickup, and in conjunction with the Mannmade trem you have some big, sustaining tones.

The in-between positions are just great on this set. Position 2 has a nice "cluck" with shimmering highs and a percussive low end, while Position 4 has a juicier low end and a balanced attack in the upper mids. You also have the ability to blend in the neck pickup in positions one and two, allowing you to run bridge and neck as well as all pickups at once. Having all 3 pickups engaged is a really cool sound, generously scooped in the mids and just huge on a clean Fender style amp.

Last but not least, the neck position on this guitar gives you that throaty SRV punch so many tone chasers seek, alongside some upper midrange sting when you really dig in. It's clear and dynamic, having just the right amount of output to make an edge-of-breakup amp sing. If you're looking for an "S" style guitar to add to your lineup, you’ll want to take this one under full consideration!

How Does It Play?

The neck feels like the happy medium of 60’s Strat necks, but paired with a more modern 9.5-14” radius built into its rosewood slab fretboard. The frets are .095 X .047, straddling the line between a vintage fret and the “narrow tall” fret wire used on so many Fender CS guitars. The fretwork is impeccable and the string action measures barely a hair over 4/64” on the low E string at the 12^th fret and right at 4/64” on the high E, without buzz.
