What Do We Think?

This guitar features all the “stock” Serus J features but adds a little extra with the Lollartrons pickup set and Lake Como Blue over Sunburst finish.

The Lollartrons are delightfully clear and uncongested. In that sense, they share qualities of a great single coil. And similarly, they are moderately low output so they allow your overdrives to stay fantastically transparent. But where they diverge from a single coil is in their robust bottom end and natural touch of compression that fattens every note. And of course, they are inherently hum-cancelling. So gain up that amp as far as you need to, because these pickups deliver.

How Does It Play?

Novo has mastered the blend of modern fretboard radius with rounded fretboard edges. It feels classic while benefitting from that flatter radius to allow for low action everywhere on the neck without any fretbuzz. Your hand glides effortlessly up and down, with the finish sanded off the back for that wonderful “broken in” feel.
