Mario Martin guitars are hand built in Murfreesboro, TN just 40 minutes down the road from us! Undertaking the entire build process from cutting the body blank to spraying the final touch of nitro, Mario Martin achieves a level of guitar making well beyond partscaster builders who may look alike on the surface. What Does Daniel Think?

This guitar is a great variation on a classic. If you are a fan of Ry Cooder you will love the tone of the Lollar Gold Foils, but you will also have access to middle and out-of-phase pickup tones similar to a standard Strat. The pickups have a nice wide frequency range with lots of bark and growl and you’ll probably find yourself reaching for your humbucker-equipped guitar less and less. The neck is a beautiful piece of roasted quarter-sawn maple and it’s hard as a rock! If you travel with your guitars you won’t have to worry about the neck moving on you between stops. The profile is a chunky “plus” C which will give your palm more contact with the shoulders while playing. If you are looking for a cool 50’s-inspired Strat with a twist, this guitar is for you!

How Does It Play?

Mario guitars are dialed in perfectly by the builders, and they’re just down the road so the guitars really don’t even go through any environment change from their shop to ours. But we still do our due diligence just as on every other guitar we sell, making sure we are familiar with the guitar on a personal level and giving one more test of every component and a final check on the setup before shipping. But to sum it up in just a few words, playing a Martin Martin guitar is simultaneously effortless and electrifying.
