What Do We Think?

For starters, we dig it! For tonal quality, think a Les Paul with more air and less honk. It fills out the tonal spectrum without the nasal nose of many other ‘bucker guitars. The Wolfetone KauerBucker pickups have a very balanced frequency response with a controlled low end, a sweet and chimey ceiling, and an articulate midrange that intensifies the heavier you pick. Even through a clean amp, the guitar has a long and rich sustain. With dirt, the bottom stays tight and the upper midrange really blooms with a little added sizzle when you dig in. The two pickups provide distinct but complimentary flavors, and the middle position is perfect for big shimmering clean tones with some nice natural compression.

How Does It Play?

This guitar fits really nicely in your lap with a perfectly-proportioned waist. Standing up, the 7lb 1oz feels pretty great on the shoulder too. The neck profile is a comfortable round C all the way up, measuring .87” at the 1st fret and .93” at the 12th. We say this on every Kauer, but these PLEK’d necks set up so darn low. 4/64” across all strings at the 12th fret with plenty of room to bend or dig in without buzz.
