This Banshee is part of a Special Edition 2023 Black Limba run, #2 of only 10 guitars! Black Limba body with Black Limba thru neck in natural finish to underscore the stunning character of the wood. Black tuner buttons on the Rickard banjo tuners, an especially dark & gorgeous wenge fretboard, and an ABM Wraparound bridge complete the build.

What Do We Think?

We’re talking girth and power in the low register, singing trebles and a clear midrange. The Black Limba neck and body open up that middle register compared to a mahogany build, making sure the single pickup in the bridge never leans toward “stuffy” as some do. On the contrary, the guitar is exceptionally balanced across the EQ spectrum and delivers a rich harmonic palette.

The Wolfetone KauerBucker is a very vocal, expressive pickup in any build. But in this one it takes on a personality all its own with a bit more chirp and sparkle. It is the perfect candidate for players wishing to control their amp from the guitar’s volume pot; it stays nice and clear as you roll the volume down. And taking advantage of that same clarity, go ahead and sweep the tone pot to conjure the perfect wah-like vowel for your more lyrical lines or to settle your rhythm tone back slightly in the mix.

How Does It Play?

Incredible. Doug PLEKs the necks on his guitars and the results are undeniable. The string action measures just 4/64” on the low E string at the 12^th fret and all the way down to 3/64” on the high E, without buzz. The C neck profile is full but not excessive, a fitting crown jewel on this rocking build.
