What Do We Think?

There’s more here than meets the eye! But yes, let’s address that sparkle! And boy does it sparkle. You’ve never seen a Sienna Burst like this before! Turns out all that glitters is gold after all… and cherry red!

But beneath the flashy exterior there is a lot more to talk about. The guitar is lightweight at just under 6.75lb. And resonant too.  It sports a Lollar Firebird in the neck position and a Lollar Mini Humbucker in the bridge, outfitted with a smooth cover to match the Firebird. While this guitar certainly knows how to rock, it can also do high society if you know what we’re saying. Plenty of expression and eloquence in this pickup set.

The Lollar Firebird in the neck position has a lot of body with an open midrange and snappy highs. Think of it as the halfway point between a single coil and a humbucker. If you find a typical ‘bucker in the neck to be a bit muddy, you’ll appreciate the extra clarity this pickup brings to the table. And it is indeed completely humbucking.

The mini humbucker in the bridge has a bit more midrange grunt than the Firebird, but not the full on hump we are used to hearing in a normal humbucker. It conjures everything from Allman Brothers on the cleaner side to a Zeppelin vibe as you turn up the amp. It even handles higher gains very nicely. Don’t be afraid to nudge the tone knob back and explore the different colors along the way.

The balance of all three pickup positions is remarkable. The middle position pulls tones reminiscent of the middle position of a Tele, or even the crispness of a good Filter’Tron. Your pick attack is immediate, with a snappy low end and chimey highs.

How Does It Play?

We spec’d this one with a thinner neck profile than the usual Banshee neck. While not uber thin, it does play just a bit slimmer and faster than the Standard C. It measures 0.85” at the first fret and 0.98” at the 12th. The string action measures just 4/64” on the low E string at the 12th fret and all the way down to 3/64” on the high E without any buzz. Yes, the neck is PLEK’d to perfection!
