The Kauer Banshee Deluxe retains the same neck thru construction that makes the Banshee so unique, but adds a maple top for a distinct sonic flavor. Measuring ¼” thick in the middle and 1/8” on the wings, it imparts a bite and tightness not heard in the standard Banshee and pairs especially well with humbucking pickups. Nonetheless, the body maintains the thin dimensions, comfortable contours and lively response of its namesake. What Do We Think?

A perfect marriage of stunning good looks and crisp, responsive humbucking tones. Even with the quilted maple cap this guitar weighs barely a hair over 7lb. For those familiar with the Wolfetone pickup lineup, the KauerBucker bridge pickup is wound slightly hotter than the Legend and the neck pickup is slightly underwound to keep the mids nice and open in the mahogany body. They utilize fully-charged Alnico II magnets for a tone that is vintage at heart but packs just the right amount of heat.

The maple cap and the open foil pickup covers really sweeten the middle and upper registers to perfection. You can get more open and airy than on most humbucker guitars, yet still rock away with the full power of the mahogany body behind you on your overdriven tones. With individual volume and tone for each pickup, the variety of tones you can coax out of this guitar is quite extensive. From sweet and soft-spoken to raucous and ready to rumble, you’ll be covered.

How Does It Play?

PLEK’d and ready! The string action measures just 4/64” on the low E at the 12^th fret and even under that on the high E. There is no fretbuzz. The C neck profile measures just a little bit slimmer on this one than on most Banshees, fast and comfortable but with just enough to hold onto. From the first look to the last note, this guitar keeps you wanting more.
