What's the deal with refurbished?​​​​

This instrument was either an overstock or was deemed by the factory to have an imperfection. It is not stamped used or 2ND, but has been given a new serial number by the manufacturer-authorized refurbisher. We pass along all available information from the refurbisher so you know exactly what you are getting! Check the description to see exactly what imperfection this instrument has, if any. These are like new with little or zero play wear!​​​​​​​

In the early 90’s, Ibanez broke into the high-end boutique bass market with its unique concept of the Affirma bass. The compact and lightweight body, designed by Swiss Luither Rolf Spuler, resulted in a bass with an elegant feel enhanced by its beautiful streamlined shape. It was created to meet the critical demands of musicians who require a natural sounding, sensitive instrument with wide dynamic range and effortless playability. The AFR5FMP blends a Bartolini magnetic pickup and a set of piezo saddle elements (with individual trim pots) to allow you to tailor your tone from thick and modern all the way to the snappy attack and acoustic quality of an upright bass. And anywhere in between, all in an instant.

This particular instrument has a tiny ding on the edge of the truss rod access cavity and some light scuffing on the tip of the headstock. We have included a close-up photo of each imperfection. Aside from what we have described, this instrument is in mint condition.

How Does It Play?

We have given this beautiful five-string a full check and thorough setup. This one sets up at an especially-low 5/64" on the low B at the 12th fret and 4/64" on the high G, without buzz. From truss rod to frets to nuts and saddles, we have checked and attended to every detail. The action is low and easy up and down the fretboard. The electronics are 100% and the bass is ready to play.

Please note that Ibanez did not provide us with a case for this instrument. We have priced the instrument accordingly. We can add a new Guardian Cases hardshell case to US orders for $95 or to international orders for $115.
