What Does Ben Think?

Novo took its already versatile Miris and added a great twist for us with the addition of the Lollar Firebird pickups. They don’t normally offer these but we worked out a Limited Run exclusive to Guitars To Be Played! This guitar is extremely light and well balanced with a very resonant and articulate attack, which is noticeable even before you plug the guitar in. The mastery Bridge is smooth and stable as well as ergonomic.

Upon plugging this guitar in I noticed the Firebirds are bright and clear, similar to a good Tele with but with a smoother top end and a mid push that is reminiscent of a humbucker. These pickups have a wide variety of dynamics on tap just by using the controls on the guitar. It covers everything from smooth to snappy tones, all with a vintage feel and modern reliability.

How Does It Play?

The neck profile is a nice and round C, though medium in depth and not overly chunky. The neck has impeccable fretwork. The finish is sanded down on the back and will really suit players who prefer satin over gloss. An ebony fretboard, block inlays and a whole lotta flame on the back of the neck round out the package.
