The Alt de Facto series is Fano’s top-of-the-line custom series. These are handbuilt in the USA by one luthier from start to finish so that every instrument tells a unique and cohesive story. Nitrocellulose lacquer body and neck of course. If this isn’t exactly the guitar you are looking for, let us know what you want and we’ll get you the best price on your custom build.
What Does Riley Think?
An offset style guitar for those who want to rock! This guitar strikes me as the best of both worlds in a way. The comfort and stability of a bolt-on offset guitar with tones more typically found on a Kalamazoo-style build, but with an added fidelity and snap offered up by the bolt-on maple neck, 25.5 inch scale length, and alder body. The compound fingerboard radius starts at a friendly feeling 9.5” and flattens out to 12” so you can bend all your notes to the high heavens.
The Suhr SSV bridge humbucker is loud and clear without any sense of dullness or mud. It handles gain beautifully, as can be said for the neck pickup which has all the fullness you’d expect with a nice top end snap as well. My favorite position on this beast is the middle position, which puts you right in jangly classic rock territory.
This Fano JM6 would be equally at home in the hands of an 80’s shredder as it would be in the hands of a reverb and fuzz soaked shoe-gazer. The Gotoh 510 tremolo system feels stable as can be for all your dive bomb or swirly, offset style tremolo needs, ah-la Kevin Shields.
All tied together with a sleek and cool Charcoal frost finish with a very light relic job, a nice patina on the nickel hardware, and a smooth-as-silk C shaped maple neck and fingerboard. This Fano JM6 ADF is begging to be rocked hard at your next gig!
How Does It Play?
The string action measures just 4/64” on the low E string at the 12th fret and even lower on the high E. Perfectly dress fret ends. The back of the neck has the gloss knocked down to satin to make sure it never gets sticky. There is no fretbuzz anywhere on the neck.
The Goto 510T-SF2 tremolo combines traditional steel saddles and Gotoh’s FST mechanism which prevents the strings from binding on the baseplate as they exit the block. Tuning returns perfectly to pitch after use. And the tremolo arm has an improved thread design and an adjustable collet to take out the play that plagues traditional S-Style trems.
