What Do We Think? 

This guitar sounds big and balanced. The uncovered Bare Knuckle Mule humbuckers bloom with a full midrange and responsive low end. There is a perfect bark in the bridge position, almost SG-like in character. And the Brazilian Rosewood fretboard is just the ingredient to give all that lush tone a tight, energetic focus.

The neck pickup is nice and clear. The lower midrange is a touch smokey but not overpowering. Your pick attack delivers a soulful chirp, reminiscent of Duane Allman. The highs are perfectly tailored and roll off before the pickup gets bright.

All pickup positions ring out evenly across the full spectrum of the instrument. The Alnico IV magnets of the Mules capture the mahogany body in vivid color. The Knaggs Influence bridge gives you phenomenal resonance and imparts a touch of shimmer that you might not get from a standard TOM/Stoptail configuration.

How Does It Play?

The neck is nice and round, in the ballpark of a ’58 Les Paul. The “slight V” spec is just that… very slight. You’ll probably overlook it altogether, but it does make chording around the first few frets a breeze by taking off a little bit of shoulder in the cowboy chord area before transitioning to a full C. The string action hovers right around 4/64” at the 12^th fret without a hint of buzz.
