Each Fano Oltre series guitar is handbuilt in the USA using an old-growth North American Alder body, maple neck and a nitrocellulose lacquer finish. The result is a resonant, lively instrument crafted with care and precision. This series allows for a number of customizations, from color to pickguard, knobs to pickups. Models can be built with either a maple or rosewood fretboard to meet the needs of a variety of players. What Do We Think?

This is an outstanding P-90 pickup configuration! The Lollar Staple P-90 in the neck has a warm, woody tonality. It sounds dry and articulate, allowing you to hear the richness and overtones of the alder body without any midrange congestion.

The bridge position is a traditional Lollar P-90, highlighting more midrange bite and snarl. This pickup is not afraid of the dirt! It sounds really fantastic in front of Marshall-inspired amps, with loads of control derived right from the volume and tone knobs on the guitar. From classic breakup to ripping solos, you won’t have any trouble finding your sound.

The middle position blends the two picking voicings seamlessly, with each pickup’s unique approach to the midrange leaving ample room for the other. Clean tones sing boldly and effortlessly in this position, without the filtered or hollowed-out sound you sometimes get in a middle position.

How Does It Play?

The PX6 neck profile is a nice 50’s round C that starts with a moderate depth and really fills out the hand as you arrive at the upper frets. The string action hovers around 4/64” at the 12^th fret, without buzz. The back of the neck is sanded smooth and feels really nice under the palm of your hand.
