Like what you see? All photos are of the exact instrument you will receive!
Each Fano Oltre series guitar is handbuilt in the USA using an old-growth North American Alder body, maple neck and a nitrocellulose lacquer finish. The result is a resonant, lively instrument crafted with care and precision. This series allows for a number of customizations, from color to pickguard, knobs to pickups. Models can be built with either a maple or rosewood fretboard to meet the needs of a variety of players. What Does Josh Think?
This is a magnificently energetic guitar. The kind you give a quick strum before you plug in and immediately know is going to be a good one. The Lollar Imperial pickup set perfectly captures the extra punch and nuance that the maple fretboard delivers. The low register is big, tight and dynamic. The top end is vibrant but controlled.
Whether playing plugged straight into a dry amp, cranking the reverb, or running a plethora of effects in front, this guitar gives you what you want without getting in its own way. It is evenly EQ’d across the spectrum. The neck pickup has a warm midrange without any mud. The bridge position has bite and articulation but no spikey top end.
The middle position perhaps exudes the guitar’s energetic nature to the max. The attack is immediate, but just as instantly supported with rich overtones. You might find yourself spending a surprising amount of time in this position even with an amp roaring in overdrive. But nothing says rock ‘n’ roll like a PAF-inspired bridge pickup, and this one leaves nothing lacking. So pick your poison and let it rip!
How Does It Play?
The string action is low and fast without buzz, hovering right around 4/64” at the 12th fret. The neck is a full C, reminiscent of Gibson’s latest take on a ’59 profile. Not huge, but generous and supportive. The contoured neck heel and deep cutaway of the non-reverse body provide easy access to the upper frets.
