The Alt de Facto series is Fano’s top-of-the-line custom series. These are handbuilt in the USA by one luthier from start to finish so that every instrument tells a unique and cohesive story. What Does We Think?

Beautiful sustain, gorgeous articulation and big-bodied low end all in one package. The Swamp Ash body is exquisite, and there’s more than meets the eye. The GF6 is fashioned with a solid carved top and solid back/sides, rather than laminate construction. This gives the guitar more liveliness and response when compared to other notable semi-hollow builds.

This guitar also features one of our favorite P-90 combinations, a Lollar ‘50s Wind P-90 in the neck and standard Lollar P-90 in the bridge. The ‘50s Wind is crisp and open, yet maintains that wonderful girth of a P-90 at the same time. The tone is tight, woody and sweet all at once.

The bridge P-90 packs more midrange punch, perfect for pushing the amp a little harder. It makes your clean tones more muscular and your dirt tones absolutely sing. This position has all the harmonic richness of your favorite semi-hollows, but is a little more immediate and dynamic.

The middle position deserves the limelight just as much as the other two. It is warm but bouncy at the same time, giving you yet another unique tonal print from the instrument. The pairing of the two pickups together balances very nicely with the natural EQ of the guitar, exuding an almost “acoustic” quality through a clean amp.

How Does It Play?

They just don’t play any better than this! The string action measures only 4/64” on the low E string at the 12^th fret and all the way down to 3/64” on the high E. There is no fretbuzz, and we love the worn finish on the neck. It feels completely natural from the first touch.
