Each Fano Oltre series guitar is handbuilt in the USA using an old-growth North American Alder body, maple neck and a nitrocellulose lacquer finish. The result is a resonant, lively instrument crafted with care and precision. This series allows for a number of customizations, from color to pickguard, knobs to pickups. Models can be built with either a maple or rosewood fretboard to meet the needs of a variety of players. What Do We Think?

This guitar is vintage Blackguard Tele looks with a twist. The Fano P-90s are rich and thick in the midrange, balanced by a nice top-end cut coming off the maple fretboard. This is the perfect T-Style for someone who wants bigger, thicker, meaner tones than a traditional Tele can offer. The offset/contour heel joint opens up the higher frets all the way up through the cutaway.

Fano’s P-90 pickups sound absolutely phenomenal with a maple fretboard, making good use of the extra “cut” and snap the maple provides. When paired with a vintage Marshall style amp, the bridge position comes across very close to the intro riff tone of “Hold on Loosely” by .38 Special.

The neck position has a little more spank than your average neck position because the pickup is pulled further from the neck and closer to the bridge. Without losing warmth, this allows the midrange to remain nice and open. Even the low strings stay nice and clear.

How Does It Play?

This guitar sets up nice and low without fretbuzz, measuring just 4/64” at the 12^th fret across all strings. The worn finish on the back of the neck is completely natural at first touch. It is hard to put down.
