The S-Style that never was! The Kauer Electroliner features a Swamp Ash or Tempered Pine body and a Roasted Maple neck with Wenge or Roasted Maple fretboard. Full 25.5” scale length, big resonance and tight response, beautiful “in-between” position tones and a whole lot more to love.

What Do We Think?

The Lollar Sixty-Four staggered pole neck/middle and Special S bridge are a perfectly spanky pickup set! They harness the brawn of the roasted ash body but ring sweet and true on top. The neck position is big and bold. The upper register is tight and snappy over a deep, warm bottom end.

If you ask us, the in-between positions are where it’s at. They pop, spank AND thump. They sound very naturally EQ’d, not overly scooped or filtered. But that’s not to take away from the pickups each on their own. The bridge position has a surprising shimmer. Richer than your average Strat bridge, and a whole lot more usable if you ask us. This could be partly due to Doug’s choice of Highwood Contoured Vintage saddles to increase the mass at the bridge.

In all positions, there’s room to roll the tone back a hair depending on the tone you’re after. And what’s wonderful is that the pickup set is well-balanced and doesn’t require fiddling with the tone knob to match your bridge to your neck, etc. You can set and forget.

Also… that Mazzucchelli Tort pickguard. This is the real deal Italian Cellulose Acetate. Yes, it adds a little bit of coin to the guitar but it is well worth it. We’re stoked that Doug Kauer offered this bit of material up as the perfect addition to this guitar.

How Does It Play?

The roasted maple neck features nice medium C profile and a bound wenge fretboard. Like every Kauer, the frets are Plek’d and polished to perfection. The string action hovers right around 4/64” at the 12^th fret without a hint of fretbuzz.
