What Do We Think?

This guitar is LIGHT. And hugely resonant with an excellent cut of mahogany. At just 6lb 10oz it is sure to stay comfortable on the shoulder all night long. Which is good thing because it may be the only guitar you’ll need for the entire gig.

The Lollar Firebird in the neck of this guitar has a lot of body with an open midrange. If you find a typical humbucker in the neck to be a bit muddy, you’ll appreciate the extra clarity this pickup brings to the table. It displays an incredibly sweet and full character with clean tones but likes some dirt as well.

The mini humbucker in the bridge (smooth cover to match the Firebird) has the perfect midrange for classic rock. It conjures everything from Allman Brothers on the cleaner side to a Zeppelin vibe with a little extra depth as you turn up the amp. And it doesn’t stop there. When continuing to dial up the gain the pickup is naturally EQ’d just the way you want your guitar to sit in a band mix… the low midrange is punchy and powerful, transitioning strongly through the upper mids without becoming honky.

The middle position could fool you into thinking the guitar is loaded with Filter’Trons. You get that nice pop on the bottom, gently scooped midrange and sparkling high end. This pickup combo allows for some mammoth clean tones. They really harness the warmth of the mahogany body while maintaining a nice crisp attack.

How Does It Play?

Like a dream. The string action measures just 4/64” on the low E string at the 12th fret and even lower on the high E, without any buzz. The neck is PLEK’d to perfection. The medium C profile is unabashedly comfortable at first touch. We mentioned the great cut of mahogany earlier in the description… even with really low action you can dig in and feel this guitar resonating with ease.
