Like what you see? All photos and video are of the exact instrument you will receive. Seafoam Green is a difficult color to capture on camera but we have done our best!
We want to point out that as a nitro finish guitar, this instrument has natural finish checking on the neck and body. In this case none was done artificially. This is all natural checking simply by virtue of the thin nitrocellulose finishes Fano uses!
The Alt de Facto series is Fano’s top-of-the-line custom series. These are handbuilt in the USA by one luthier from start to finish so that every instrument tells a unique and cohesive story. Nitrocellulose lacquer body and neck of course. If this isn’t exactly the guitar you are looking for, let us know what you want and we’ll get you the best price on your custom build.
What Does Josh Think?
Let’s just get cosmetics out of the way, because this guitar looks just phenomenal with the Tortoise pickguard on Seafoam Green. Then you’ve got a Roasted Maple neck with Birdseye fretboard. Clean nickel hardware with Bigsby. It’s just a stunning guitar through and through.
Alright, that’s out of the way. On to the tones… I love that the neck position sparkles. Yes, it’s big and warm like you’d expect. But you don’t have to work for that sweet articulation. The top strings have an incredible transparency ringing out through the TV Jones Classic neck pickup. The middle position is tight and percussive. It sounds big and snappy for single note funk lines but plays equally well into clean arpeggiated passages, with or without your delays and reverbs.
The TV Jones Classic Plus in the bridge position has less of the midrange snarl and congestion than you’d get from a traditional humbucker, but still has a punchy low end and rich low mids. With the tonal contributions of the Bigsby hardware, the sound takes on the purity and immediacy of a Tele bridge position but warmer and sweeter. Big open chords have body, yet clarity. Character yet composure.
This guitar also features a thin nitrocellulose finish, ensuring that the resonance of the North American alder body is uninhibited. Straight from Fano, it shows nice natural finish checking and is sure to break in and wear with you the more you play.
How Does It Play?
This guitar sets up very nicely, with string action hovering just a hair over 4/64” on the low E at the 12th fret and 3/64” on the high E string. All without any buzz. The fretwork is exceptional. The neck profile is an early 60’s-inspired C, lean-to-medium in depth but with good shoulder to comfortably support the hand.
