Each Fano Oltre series guitar is handbuilt in the USA using an old-growth North American Alder body, maple neck and a nitrocellulose lacquer finish. The result is a resonant, lively instrument crafted with care and precision. This series allows for a number of customizations, from color to pickguard, knobs to pickups. Models can be built with either a maple or rosewood fretboard to meet the needs of a variety of players. What Do We Think?

Warm, smoky midrange on the neck pickup. Tight response, beautiful sparkle and a splash of “quack” in the middle position. A healthy bite from the bridge pickup that can be perfectly tailored with the tone knob. Hybrid picking will bring out a touch of Tele twang, while big chords yield to a bit of natural compression that can be even further sweetened by rolling back the tone. The Fano P-90 pickups are very balanced in this guitar and achieve a variety of stellar tones without putting you through the wringer sculpting your amp EQ.

How Does It Play?

This beauty sets up with the string action measuring just 4/64” at the 12^th fret on the low E and 3/64” on the high E, without buzz. The frets are beautifully dressed and polished. The early 60’s-inspired C profile is temperately slim, but with a nice amount of shoulder to support the hand and thwart fatigue. The lacquer is sanded off the back of the neck for a smooth tung-oiled finish without any stickiness when things get cooking.
