What Do We Think?

An instant classic! We spec’d this guitar out with unabashed inspiration from a certain gunslinger of Heartbreakers fame. Doug delivered with a gorgeous guitar and some truly custom touches.

The uncovered Lollar Imperial in the bridge has a distinguished bark that capitalizes on the tonal character of this wonderful piece of mahogany. Crank up the gain and you’ll find the pickup maintains composure while dishing out a thick low end. It has a wonderful tonal consistency throughout the spectrum of the volume knob if you’re into controlling the dirt that way.

The Novel90 in the neck has the punchy low end you love in a single coil, with a fatter attack and warmer top end. The middle position blends a perfect concoction of round lower midrange and perfectly-articulate upper mids and highs. You’ll definitely find a shimmer here that doesn’t exist on a dual humbucker configuration!

How Does It Play?

Like a dream. We don’t usually set up our guitars this low, but this one is at 4/64” and 3/64” at the 12th fret without a hint of string buzz. The neck is PLEK’d to perfection. The medium C profile is unabashedly comfortable at first touch. We mentioned the great cut of mahogany earlier in the description… even with really low action you can dig in and feel this guitar resonating with ease.
