Each Fano Oltre series guitar is handbuilt in the USA using an old-growth North American Alder body, maple neck and a nitrocellulose lacquer finish. The result is a resonant, lively instrument crafted with care and precision. This series allows for a number of customizations, from color to pickguard, knobs to pickups. Models can be built with either a maple or rosewood fretboard to meet the needs of a variety of players. What Do We Think?

A beautifully versatile guitar! Fano’s P-90 pickups sit very nicely in this Rickenbacker-inspired instrument for a sound that is all its own, with a thick lower midrange and a crisp top end that will satisfy the audiophile in any guitar player. We have found this pickup complement in the RB6 to be right at home everywhere from the studio on a rock session, the stage on a country western gig and the church auditorium on a praise and worship set.

It is incredibly responsive to play, with the TonePros wraparound bridge set back towards the lower bout in such a way that the instrument feels deceptively shorter even than the 24.75” scale would suggest. The German Carve on the body gives the strumming arm a nice break and even adds a little weight reduction. This is definitely a guitar that will feel light on the shoulder all gig long.

How Does It Play?

The action is low without fretbuzz, thanks to frets that are beautifully dressed and polished. The neck is very reminiscent of a ’59 roundback, starting off moderate at the nut and growing with a nice taper towards the 12^th that encourages you to dig in to those the upper frets.
