Each Fano Oltre series guitar is handbuilt in the USA using an old-growth North American Alder body, maple neck and a nitrocellulose lacquer finish. The result is a resonant, lively instrument crafted with care and precision. This series allows for a number of customizations, from color to pickguard, knobs to pickups. Models can be built with either a maple or rosewood fretboard to meet the needs of a variety of players. What Do We Think?

This Fano PX6 has some great rock ‘n’ roll mojo going on, but with a refined edge. The TV Jones Classic (neck) and Classic Plus (bridge) pickups have a beautiful sheen that plays very nicely to your tone knob. Both pickups excel at transparency, allowing you to hear the tone coming off your pick or fingers and the nuanced qualities of your amp. Yet they also have a full bottom end that lacks nothing for warmth and depth. Pull the tone knob back a bit to approach more traditional humbucker characteristics, or leave it fully up for an upper register more reminiscent of a single coil… crisp and responsive all while being completely hum cancelling.

The NOS finish on this guitar will allow you to put your own wear and aging on the instrument. Fano uses a remarkably thin nitrocellulose finish that will develop natural checking and lets the pure resonance of the old-grown North American Alder body really shine. From fit to finish, this is a beautiful instrument.

How Does It Play?

The PX6 may look like a big guitar but unlike its non-reverse Firebird siblings, it doesn’t actually play any bigger than a normal guitar. The arm contour falls just where you want it to, the cutaway is nice and deep, and even the strap buttons fall in familiar territory when switching over from a more “conformist” body shape. The neck sets up nice and straight and the string action nice and low. With a 24.75” scale length and a classic 50’s round C profile, this guitar is begging you to dig deep and find a little extra inspiration in your playing.
