Each Fano Oltre series guitar is handbuilt in the USA using an old-growth North American Alder body, maple neck and a nitrocellulose lacquer finish. The result is a resonant, lively instrument crafted with care and precision. This series allows for a number of customizations, from color to pickguard, knobs to pickups. Models can be built with either a maple or rosewood fretboard to meet the needs of a variety of players. What Does We Think?

Lollar’s mini humbuckers are the perfect way to split the difference between single coils and traditional humbuckers. While they take on some of the eloquence and transparency of a single coil, they also indulge in the punch and power intrinsic to a humbucker.

The neck position in particular has the sweetness on top that you might associate with the neck position on a strat. And it has a nuance to the midrange that even allows you to roll back the tone knob without losing clarity. Yet it also has that rounder, smoother attack of a humbucker.

The middle position is crisp and clear. It makes the absolute most of your clean tones while tailoring the top end in a most pleasing way. The attack is tight and articulate, really encouraging your best inner funk to come to light.

The bridge delivers a tinge of twang over the typical honk of a humbucker. Rolling back the tone will get you into PAF territory. But enjoying the pickup wide open is equally rewarding, delivering a blend of classic rock and country tones that love to stay on top in a mix.

How Does It Play?

The string action hovers right around 4/64” at the 12^th fret across all strings; nice and low without any fretbuzz. The neck is a moderate 50’s round C, on the slimmer side of chunky if that makes any sense. The frets are beautifully dressed and polished to perfection.
