Like what you see? All photos are of the exact instrument you will receive!
Each Fano Oltre series guitar is handbuilt in the USA using an old-growth North American Alder body, maple neck and a nitrocellulose lacquer finish. The result is a resonant, lively instrument crafted with care and precision. This series allows for a number of customizations, from color to pickguard, knobs to pickups. Models can be built with either a maple or rosewood fretboard to meet the needs of a variety of players. If this isn’t the exact Fano you are looking for, contact us to spec one out precisely to your liking!
What Do We Think?
This guitar hits hard and it hits big. Fano’s own humbucking pickups adorn the alder body, paired with a Tune-o-Matic bridge and stopbar tailpiece. The maple neck gives the guitar an immediacy and responsiveness you might be missing in your other humbucker guitars, while the rosewood fretboard maintains a familiar warmth to each note.
The bridge pickup has a strong midrange that is reminiscent of your favorite Southern rock bands, having more bark than it does honk. It sings through a JTM-or JMP-styled amp. The neck position introduces a bit more natural compression, but not in a flabby way. It sounds lush, but refined. We particularly like this pickup in the 24.75" scale length Fano guitars like this one, where it has a very balanced EQ and snappy low end.
How Does It Play?
The PX6 neck profile is a nice 50’s round C that starts with a moderate depth and really fills out the hand as you arrive at the upper frets. The fretwork on the guitar is impeccable. The string action measures barely a hair over 4/64” on the low E string at the 12th fret and right under 4/64” on the high E, without any buzz.
