Each Fano Oltre series guitar is handbuilt in the USA using an old-growth North American Alder body, maple neck and a nitrocellulose lacquer finish. The result is a resonant, lively instrument crafted with care and precision. This series allows for a number of customizations, from color to pickguard, knobs to pickups. Models can be built with either a maple or rosewood fretboard to meet the needs of a variety of players. What Do We Think?

This Fano PX6 in special-order Inverness Green is a real knock-out, from the TV Jones pickups and classic nickel hardware to the natural finish checking in the NOS nitro finish. It has a beautiful midrange punch and a clearly defined top end that will keep your amps working overtime in the best of ways. Lots of body with a bite.

The Power’Tron Plus in the bridge position is where it’s at if you want to venture down the Highway To Hell. Classic Malcom Young tones all the way. If cleans are more in your lane, the middle position delivers a perfect sparkle, blending the cordiality of the neck position with the vivacity of the bridge. The neck position by itself has a deliciously chewy flavor, warm and slightly compressed on the bottom but with enough clarity to give up the grit under a drive pedal.

How Does It Play?

The PX6 may look like a big guitar but unlike its non-reverse Firebird siblings, it doesn’t actually play any bigger than a normal guitar. The arm contour falls just where you would expect, the cutaway is nice and deep, even the strap buttons fall in familiar territory. The neck sets up nice and straight and the string action nice and low. With a 24.75” scale length and a classic 50’s round C profile, this guitar is begging you to dig deep and find a little extra inspiration in your playing.
