Each Fano Oltre series guitar is handbuilt in the USA using an old-growth North American Alder body, maple neck and a nitrocellulose lacquer finish. The result is a resonant, lively instrument crafted with care and precision. This series allows for a number of customizations, from color to pickguard, knobs to pickups. Models can be built with either a maple or rosewood fretboard to meet the needs of a variety of players. What Do We Think?

If you've always been a fan of a certain offset shape but couldn't vibe with short scale length or sometimes-cumbersome electronics, this might be the guitar for you. Boasting a 25.5" scale length, Gotoh 6-screw Strat-style trem, heel contour and Fano's own humbuckers, this is likely the "'Stang" you've been dreaming up.

The Fano humbuckers sound just fantastic in this guitar. The bridge pickup tones are big and clear, with a tight low-end punch and a slight bump around 2khz which helps it cut through. The midrange is tailored nicely, not honky or congested with overdrive. It handles cleans very nicely also.

The neck position has a very musical chirp in the upper register, providing stellar note articulation. The bottom end is round, warm and piano-like, but isn't overpowering or boomy. It blends really nicely with the bridge to create a beautiful, chimey and slightly scooped middle position.

How Does It Play?

The neck profile is a moderate “early 60’s” C that leaves enough on the shoulder to support the hand and prevent fatigue, while affording a thin enough profile for blazing fretwork. Generous body contours and a heel contour make this guitar especially easy to navigate. The string action measures just 4/64” on the low E string and even a tad lower on the high E. Completely free of fretbuzz.
