Each Fano Oltre series guitar is handbuilt in the USA using an old-growth North American Alder body, maple neck and a nitrocellulose lacquer finish. The result is a resonant, lively instrument crafted with care and precision. This series allows for a number of customizations, from color to pickguard, knobs to pickups. Models can be built with either a maple or rosewood fretboard to meet the needs of a variety of players. What Do We Think?

Though fitted in humbucker mounts, these TV Jones pickups afford you the exceptional clarity and well-controlled bottom end you know to expect from their Classic set. Even from an acoustic standpoint, this guitar has a notably lively timbre that works to really emphasizes these qualities. First impressions are important, and this one hits home right from the start.

The neck position finds that sweet middle ground between a single coil and traditional humbucker, granting you the “snap” of the former with the warmth of the latter. The middle position has incredible sparkle, while still maintaining that well-balanced fullness on the bottom end. The Classic Plus in the bridge pushes the output just enough to give you a slight midrange “bump” when you’re ready to wail, but sounds equally balanced for classic rhythm breakup or crisp clean tones.

How Does It Play?

The early 60’s-inspired C profile is temperately slim, but with a nice amount of shoulder to support the hand and thwart fatigue. The guitar sets up very nicely, allowing the string action to measure just 4/64” on the low E at the 12^th fret and 3/64” on the high E without any buzz. The contoured neck heel makes those upper-fret transitions smooth and effortless.
