Each Fano Oltre series guitar is handbuilt in the USA using an old-growth North American Alder body, maple neck and a nitrocellulose lacquer finish. The result is a resonant, lively instrument crafted with care and precision. This series allows for a number of customizations, from color to pickguard, knobs to pickups. Models can be built with either a maple or rosewood fretboard to meet the needs of a variety of players. What Does Ivey Think?
Wish you could still wear that leopard print like you did in the 90's? Well now you can. This JM6 sports a Leopard print pickguard and is the gnarliest guitar we've seen in a minute. Zebra open coil pickups to match.
We're really digging the introduction of Suhr pickups to the Fano line. The Suhr SSV humbucker in the bridge position is very dynamic for a humbucker, and the pick attack is pleasingly immediate and present. It is vintage voiced with medium output, a crisp upper midrange and balanced EQ throughout.
The neck position (also Suhr SSV) is surprisingly clear and even conjures some great Strat-like it sounds. Yes, of course it still has that meaty humbucker thing going on down low, but not at the expense of becoming muddy. Combining it with the bridge pickup makes for some beautiful chimey clean tones.
It's worth noting that the acoustic resonance of this guitar has a super sweet top end sustain, and really shines with some big open chords. Not surprisingly, that shines through the pickups as well. And the guitar weighs just 7lb 5oz.
How Does It Play?
The neck on this one sets up particularly fast and low. The string action measures just 4/64” on the low E string at the 12th fret and 3/64” on the high E. There is no fretbuzz. The neck is on the slim side of a medium C. But it also sports nice shoulders which keep it feeling supportive despite its more slender dimensions. The finish is sanded naturally off the back of the neck to prevent any nitro stick as your hands get moving.
Weight: 7lb 5oz
The Fano Custom padded gigbag is included.
