Each Fano Oltre series guitar is handbuilt in the USA using an old-growth North American Alder body, maple neck and a nitrocellulose lacquer finish. The result is a resonant, lively instrument crafted with care and precision. This series allows for a number of customizations, from color to pickguard, knobs to pickups. Models can be built with either a maple or rosewood fretboard to meet the needs of a variety of players. If this isn’t the exact Fano you are looking for, contact us to spec one out precisely to your liking!
What do we think?
Fano’s P-90 pickups sounds incredible in this maple fretboard JM6. The neck position is warm and fat, but with a well-tailored midrange that allows your middle strings to shine. The middle position is wonderfully clear and open, even sparkly on the top end. You’ll find that big chords absolutely shimmer in this position. The bridge pickup has a perfect bite, sounding more akin to a thick Strat bridge than to a Tele. Turn up the drive and roll back the tone knob on the guitar a bit to cop some PAF humbucker tones too!
How Does It Play?
The string action measures just 4/64” at the 12th fret (even a little lower on the treble side), ensuring this guitar plays like a breeze up and down the fretboard. The early 60’s-inspired C profile is temperately slim, but with a nice amount of shoulder to support the hand and thwart fatigue. The contoured neck heel makes those upper-fret transitions smooth and effortless, and the worn neck finish delivers an immediately broken-in feel that is tongue-oiled to be smooth and fast without any stick as your hands get moving.
