Each Fano Oltre series guitar is handbuilt in the USA using an old-growth North American Alder body, maple neck and a nitrocellulose lacquer finish. The result is a resonant, lively instrument crafted with care and precision. This series allows for a number of customizations, from color to pickguard, knobs to pickups. Models can be built with either a maple or rosewood fretboard to meet the needs of a variety of players. What Do We Think?

This Olive Green JM6 looks like straight up Rock n' Roll, and is well-equipped for the job too. This one has a really stunning Rosewood fretboard paired with a lightweight and resonant Alder body, with the total weight coming in just over 7lbs.

The Fano P-90's in this guitar absolutely sing. The bridge sounds are thick and powerful, yet clear and present. The dynamic range of the pickup gives you the ability to push an edge-of-breakup amp into sweet saturation, or back off for a sweet and balanced tone. The midrange sits in a really nice place with overdrives, open enough to not muddy up big chords yet with enough body to never sound thin when playing lead lines higher up on the neck.

The neck position is great, with low notes that are big and warm and an upper register that has a nice sizzle. The guitar retains clarity and liveliness, and has a chewy character when you really dig in. It balances really well with the bridge pickup, not requiring any change in amp settings as you switch between the two.

How Does It Play?

The early ‘60s-inspired C profile is temperately slim, but with a nice amount of shoulder to support the hand and thwart fatigue. The finish is sanded naturally off the back of the neck to prevent any nitro stick as your hands get moving. The string action hovers right around 4/64” at the 12^th fret without any fret buzz!
