Each Fano Oltre series guitar is handbuilt in the USA using an old-growth North American Alder body, maple neck and a nitrocellulose lacquer finish. The result is a resonant, lively instrument crafted with care and precision. This series allows for a number of customizations, from color to pickguard, knobs to pickups. Models can be built with either a maple or rosewood fretboard to meet the needs of a variety of players. What Do We Think?

This guitar provides a subtly-sculpted midrange to make room for fantastic clarity and a bit of spank. The bridge pickup sounds great both clean and overdriven. Even as you crank the gain and play higher up the neck, a well-tailored high end allows notes to remain full and smooth. The neck pickup is clear with just the right amount of body. Sometimes neck position P-90s feel a bit “boomy” to our ears; by contrast this one is balanced very nicely. We also have to note that the black plexi pickguard, pickup covers and knobs look absolutely stunning on the Bull Black finish!

How Does It Play?

These guitars come in playing great right from Fano. The frets are beautifully dressed and polished. The early 60’s-inspired C profile is temperately slim, but with a nice amount of shoulder to support the hand and thwart fatigue. We do a thorough check and make the occasional truss rod, nut or saddle tweak to make sure the guitar plays exactly to our liking. The action on this guitar is absolutely beautiful, measuring just 4/64” on the low E at the 12^th and 3/64” on the high E without any buzz. The contoured neck heel makes those upper-fret transitions smooth and effortless.
