Each Fano Oltre series guitar is handbuilt in the USA using an old-growth North American Alder body, maple neck and a nitrocellulose lacquer finish. The result is a resonant, lively instrument crafted with care and precision. This series allows for a number of customizations, from color to pickguard, knobs to pickups. Models can be built with either a maple or rosewood fretboard to meet the needs of a variety of players. What Do We Think?

We took the opportunity to put two of our favorite pickups into one guitar! The Lollar Novel 90 in the neck position and Suhr Thornbucker in the bridge give this guitar incredible variety.

The Novel 90 has the warmth of a traditional P-90 but a sweeter sounding middle register. There is a bit more roundness when you pluck the string, which allows it to handle clean and dirt tones alike. From finger picking to blues riffing, rhythm strumming to slide guitar, it has the complexity and balance to cover it all.

The bridge position Suhr Thornbucker sits in the output range of a vintage PAF, but features Alnico 4 magnets for a deliciously smooth bite. It has some nice natural compression to keep it fat and tight, but also a wide open EQ. Think of it as less nasal version of a traditional PAF-styled pickup. As such, it handles clean tones beautifully, yet also pulls out all the stops for chunky power chords and searing leads.

How Does It Play?

The early ‘60s-inspired C profile is temperately slim, but with a nice amount of shoulder to support the hand and thwart fatigue. The finish is sanded naturally off the back of the neck to prevent any nitro stick as your hands get moving.
