Each Fano Oltre series guitar is handbuilt in the USA using an old-growth North American Alder body, maple neck and a nitrocellulose lacquer finish. The result is a resonant, lively instrument crafted with care and precision. This series allows for a number of customizations, from color to pickguard, knobs to pickups. Models can be built with either a maple or rosewood fretboard to meet the needs of a variety of players. If this isn’t the exact Fano you are looking for, contact us to spec one out precisely to your liking!
What Does Josh Think?
This one shines! Not just its barely-distressed finish, but also its tone. My first impression was dang, this thing is lively. There’s something distinctive about a maple fretboard that makes notes just pop off of the guitar. Which works out perfectly because this particular alder body rings loud and deep.
The Suhr SSV open coil set gives the guitar plenty of room to breath, too. The neck pickup is warm but open. It even has a nice sting when you dig in. And where most neck pickups get a bit wooly with overdrive, this one sings.
The bridge position has bite, but of a rounded and mature character. There’s plenty of articulation, but also a nice bit of natural compression that fattens every note. Again, clean or dirty, it has your back.
The middle position will handle just about anything you’d need a Strat to do. It won’t be quacky exactly, but it has the snap and vibrance you associate with a good S-Style.
So there you have it. This is quite a memorable ride. Instant connection right from the start, and sure to grow with you on every gig. The Seafoam Mary is a translucent seafoam green that highlights the beautiful alder grain beneath. There has very little distressing, but play it enough and that nitro finish is going to show some nice wear of your own making!
How Does It Play?
The string action on this one measures just 4/64” on the low E string at the 12th fret and even a tad lower on the high E, all without fretbuzz. The neck is a medium C with a contoured neck heel to get you to the upper frets with ease.
