Each Fano Oltre series guitar is handbuilt in the USA using an old-growth North American Alder body, maple neck and a nitrocellulose lacquer finish. The result is a resonant, lively instrument crafted with care and precision. This series allows for a number of customizations, from color to pickguard, knobs to pickups. Models can be built with either a maple or rosewood fretboard to meet the needs of a variety of players. What Do We Think?

The Fano P90 pickups deliver a delicious, rich and smoky midrange. Pairing them with a maple fretboard that brings out a little extra clarity and immediacy to the note attack, this guitar delivers tones that are simultaneously warm and punchy with a perfect snappiness on top. The neck position has a big and balanced low end, sweet middle register and beautifully-voiced highs that just might make your clean tones bigger than you’ve ever heard them before.

The bridge is thick and meaty while retaining a defined top end. Bold but not overly strident. It handles gain nicely and responds well to the tone knob when you want to get that humbucker-inspired creamy midrange. The middle position is crisp and punchy with a full, broad EQ range. It brings your clean passages to the front of the mix with ease. 

How Does It Play?

Worth noting, this JM6 delivers the feel of a slightly larger neck profile thanks to a thick slab of maple used for the fretboard. It fills out the hand like a generous medium C, even leaning towards a nice late 50’s chunky at the upper frets. The string action measures just 4/64” on the low E string at the 12^th fret and nearly down to 3/64” on the high E. This is a fabulous neck all around.
