Each Fano Oltre series guitar is handbuilt in the USA using an old-growth North American Alder body, maple neck and a nitrocellulose lacquer finish. The result is a resonant, lively instrument crafted with care and precision. This series allows for a number of customizations, from color to pickguard, knobs to pickups. Models can be built with either a maple or rosewood fretboard to meet the needs of a variety of players. What Do We Think? 

The Lollar P-90 neck pickup in this guitar is clear and throaty, having similarities to a thick strat pickup but much smoother and more compressed. This position really shines with clean fingerpicked chords. The note definition alongside the natural deptch and body of the lower midrange allows for some spectacular tones.

And this guitar also sports one of our favorite bridge pickup sounds. The P-90 here is crisp and full, running somewhere between a good Tele and an SG. When digging in towards the bridge it'll twang, and big chords can be reminiscent of iconic arena rock sounds with your favorite overdrive. Or a wall of Marshalls. Either way, the EQ of this pickup in an alder body is very balanced and versatile.

How Does It Play?

This beauty sets up with the string action measuring just 4/64” at the 12^th fret on the low E and even a tad lower on the high E, without buzz. The frets are beautifully dressed and polished. The early 60’s-inspired C profile is temperately slim, but with a nice amount of shoulder to support the hand and thwart fatigue. The lacquer is sanded off the back of the neck for a smooth tung-oiled finish without any stickiness when things get cooking.
