Like what you see? All photos are of the exact instrument you will receive.
Each Fano Oltre series guitar is handbuilt in the USA using an old-growth North American Alder body, maple neck and a nitrocellulose lacquer finish. The result is a resonant, lively instrument crafted with care and precision. This series allows for a number of customizations, from color to pickguard, knobs to pickups. Models can be built with either a maple or rosewood fretboard to meet the needs of a variety of players. If this isn’t the exact Fano you are looking for, contact us to spec one out precisely to your liking!
What Does Josh Think?
The Lollar OmniTron P-90’s are essentially the fusion of a single coil and a standard P-90. The have higher output and ballsier low end than a single coil, but more spank than a normal P-90. They are bold and clear rather than nasal. Sweet if you want, but ready to sting a little when you dig in too.
The neck pickup is warm but present. Like a bigger, juicier Strat neck position. Likewise, the bridge position has the bite you look for in a single coil bridge pickup but with a more robust bottom end and midrange. It sounds crystal clear through a clean amp, yet also punches powerfully in the lower midrange through a dirty rig.
For an experience that bends the mind a little, try the middle pickup position. It blends the characteristics of an acoustic and electric guitar. The overtones pop and create a very 3-dimensional sound. In all positions, the tone knob is useable for a good 75% of its throw, so you have a lot of options at your fingertips. Rolling it back alters the voicing of the pickups but they remain articulate and never close in on themselves.
How Does It Play?
First off, it feels as played in as it looks! But with perfect fretwork and zero real play wear. The back of the neck is sanded smooth and finished with Tung oil. The string action measures only 4/64” on the low E string at the 12th fret and even a tad lower on the high E. There is no fret buzz.
