What Does Parker Think?
This JM6 is a perfect praise and worship machine, plain and simple. Plug this JM body loaded with TV Jones FilterTrons and Bigsby into a chimey amp and it’s perfect for big chords and sparkling guitar parts! I love how jangly the bridge position gets into an amp like the Bad Cat Handwired Cub V. It sounded phenomenal.
Don’t think this guitar is just for praise and worship though. It can rock with the best of them should you want to go that route, or fit right in playing the blues in a club! Finished in a beautifully aged Cadillac Green, this JM6 is certainly a looker as well.
The TV Jones Classic in the neck position is extremely open and clear, qualities I look for in any neck humbucker. It has plenty of punch which is awesome especially with a bit of dirt, but it sounds great clean too! There is seemingly nothing this pickup can’t do. I love how versatile it is without compromising in any areas. It has just the right amount of low midrange punch that you feel in your gut when playing an amp loud, but is never muddy or congested!
The bridge position PowerTron is very cool, and as the name suggests has a bit more kick than a standard FilterTron pickup. This is a perfect pairing in the bridge, as it adds just a little more oomph in a position where you want it. There is a touch more punch that perfectly complements the neck pickup and sounds great for both rhythm and lead. For rhythm it punches and stays tight, and for more open chords or lead it sparkles in just the right way. Hit a nice big A2 chord and listen to it ring!
How Does It Play?
4/64” on the low E at the 12th fret and even a touch lower on the high E. This guitar plays low and easy without a hint of buzz. The early ‘60s-inspired C profile is temperately slim, but we always like to point out the nice shoulder that supports the hand and thwarts fatigue. The contoured neck heel is a really nice touch when transitioning to the upper frets as well.
