Each Fano Oltre series instrument is handbuilt in the USA using an old-growth North American Alder body, maple neck and a nitrocellulose lacquer finish. The result is a resonant, lively instrument crafted with care and precision. This series allows for a number of customizations, from color to pickguard, knobs to pickups. Models can be built with either a maple or rosewood fretboard to meet the needs of a variety of players. This guitar has some growl! Even acoustically, lay into that low E and be prepared to go along for the ride. And plugged in, we just love the FanoBird pickups with a maple fretboard. They come across thick and warm, yet tight and precise. The tone knob dials in the perfect “bite”. The bass sounds killer through a PA and in-ears alike.

How Does It Play?

This bass sets up very nicely with string action measuring under 6/64” on the low E at the 12^th fret, and down to 5/64” on the high G. There is no fretbuzz. The neck has the 1.5” nut width of a J-bass and a profile that is more reminiscent of a 60’s Oval C on a Precision, especially given this one has the finish left untouched on the back of the neck for a slightly thicker feel.
