Each Fano Oltre series instrument is handbuilt in the USA using an old-growth North American Alder body, maple neck and a nitrocellulose lacquer finish. The result is a resonant, lively instrument crafted with care and precision. This series allows for a number of customizations, from color to pickguard, knobs to pickups. Models can be built with either a maple or rosewood fretboard to meet the needs of a variety of players. If this isn’t the exact Fano you are looking for, contact us to spec one out precisely to your liking!
Fano absolutely knocked it out of the park with the pickups, design and feel of the JM4. The tones are thick and delicious through the lows and mids but always matched with clarity and precision. Playing up the neck? Still warm and tight. The tone knob dials in the punch and “bite” and is musical throughout its entire sweep. The JM4 sounds killer through a PA and in-ears alike. This one showcases a natural light distress on a perfect shade of Shoreline Gold.
How Does It Play?
The string action on this bass is just 5/64” on the low E at the 12th fret, and nearly down to 4/64” on the high G. There is no fretbuzz. The “early 60’s C” neck profile sits comfortably in the hand with enough shoulder for support while maintaining the feel of an early jazz bass neck.
