Like what you see? Photos are of the exact instrument you will receive.
Fano has extended the JM4 to the revered Alt de Facto line. For players wanting options that were not available on the Standard series, this is your ticket! If this isn’t exactly the one you are looking for, contact us and we can spec one out to your exact liking.
This bass nails that closet classic look with the modern sensibility of a pair of earth-moving Lollar Thunderbird pickups. These pickups are tight, responsive, and big on the low end. If you appreciate a full 34” scale bass that is thick and punchy yet incredibly articulate all at the same time, this one will quickly become your go-to. There’s not a dull spot on the entire neck. As you dial in the “bite” of the pickups with the tone knob, you’ll find it is musical throughout its entire sweep. Like a Jazz bass, the neck and bridge pickups have individual volumes and can be balanced any way you desire. Unlike a Jazz bass, the pickups are dead silent and you don’t get the hum when you favor one pickup over the other!
Custom appointments on this instrument include gorgeous block inlay and cream binding on the rosewood fretboard. The Antigua finish has some gorgeous finish checking and the bass features a matching pickguard AND headstock for a truly one-of-a-kind bass.
How Does It Play?
These come in set up great right out of the case from Fano, but we still do our due diligence of a thorough check and a nit-picky setup. This one likes to sit at a very nice 5/64” on the low E at the 12th fret and 4/64” on the high G, with plenty of room to dig in without buzz. The back of the neck is nicely broken in and then some, and you’ll find that the tung-oiled surface stays clean and smooth throughout a full gig. You won’t get any nitro gumminess or buildup on this baby!
