This 1939 reissue J-55 is in excellent condition and a superb player. The tone is deep and woody, much more “aged” sounding than you might expect out of a 2023 build.
The guitar has a few minor cosmetic imperfections from use which we have pointed out in close-up photos. These consist of pick scratches on pickguard, a few very light dings in the top, a ding on the side of the body where it sits in the lap, and some light scratches on the back. We have caught each of these under the direct glare of our photography lighting to make sure you are able to take a look.
How Does It Play?
The neck is in flawless condition. The truss rod adjusts exactly as it should and the string action measures just 3/32” on the low E string at the 12th fret and nearly down to 2/32” on the high E. There is no fretbuzz.
The original hard case is included along with COA, original case candy and even hang tags from the guitar’s initial sale here in Nashville at Carter Vintage.
